I have found the perfect unit (A303) for me, every year that I have come back I have seen improvement in the place. First, Colony Cove has pros and cons to it; as does every place in the Virgin Islands. Some of the cons of Colony Cove are/is that it isn't a Beach Resort; when I think of a beach resort I think of an all inclusive amenity loaded place, Colony Cove is not that, no room service, etc. it is close to smugglers. It is however nice and quiet if you want to come on vacation without a lot of partying people around you. The beach area is not for swimming, more for just laying out in the sun, relaxing. An artificial reef has been set up close to the Club St Croix beach area, seems to be pretty popular. If you are looking for good beaches to go to, go to Fredericksted it on the West side of the island. Colony Cove has a nice pool with 2 BBQ grills, one charcoal the other propane. They have charcoal in the little tiki hut for everyone use. Nice if you want to have a little get together by the pool in the evening. The grounds are well manicure, they have a herb garden if you want to use some for cooking in the evening. The buildings are being painted a beautiful new yellow color, much need change/improvement. This place is composed of 4 buildings with a total of 60 units. buildings are all 3 levels walk ups, no elevators. 3rd floor gives you the best views of the Caribbean Sea and nice sea breezes. All the units are privately owned, decorated, maintained by individuals. For the most part they are managed/rented out by a management firm (Antilles). Some of the owners rent their units out privately or by themselves, short and long term. So there is a mix of visitors, but still it is very quiet. I've stay in other units, all units have A/C units in the bedrooms-2 bedrooms. Only 4 units have split A/C units in the Living Rm/Dining Rm/Kitchen area. Which makes it very nice when there is no breezes and you want to relax on the sofa. The unit I have been returning to A303 is one of those units. Owners have done a nice job of adding personal touches to the unit, making i feel like a home away from home. Colony Cove units all have full stocked kitchen, saves you on the food cost. There is a grocery store around the corner. Colony Cove is close to Christensted, close to the shopping, pier area. It is also close to the seaplane port; very convenient if you want take a days trips to another islands. Colony Cove is well lite at night with a security gate, security guard that walks around. In all the years I've stayed here I've never felt unsafe. The check in area is a small hut like area, glassed in office. If you arrive after hours they are closed and you get your key from the security guard. Who has no authority to change your rooms, etc. any complains have to be taken care of during their normal business hours. Units vary unit to unit. As far as decor, maintenance, all maintenance issues should be reported to the front desk for write ups to be taken care of. Most units also have comment books where you can leave the owners comments/suggestions. The unit I've stayed in A303 also has a contact email address to let the owner know about things as well. As with everything in the islands things run slow to getting done, so the more people who know their is a problem the easier it is to get resolved. I keep coming back to A303 because it offers me all the things I am looking for when I come on vacation, rest, relaxation , peaceful environment, nice sea breezes, unit with A/C throughout the unit, nicely stocked kitchen if I feel like cooking in, DVD players to watch, free Wifi thru out Colony Cove, TV/DVD Player in the Master bedroom, board games provided in this unit, CD Player to listen to music. They also have a nice patio off of the Living Rm area to catch the breezes as well. Again each units here are different, some better than others. Based on how well the owners have kept up on the units. A303 is perfect for me year after year, I have continued to come back to it and have seen no downside in it.
